Re-Tuning the C-200Updated 13 days ago
If the actual resonance shifts too far from the last-set center frequency, you may not get optimal performance. Retuning can solve this.
Your ultrasonic knife comes pre-tuned from the factory. However, over time and when environmental conditions like temperature change, the knife’s actual resonant frequency can move away from the programmed center frequency. An autotune algorithm runs continuously while the knife is on to search for the optimal resonance, but re-tuning the knife can give autotune the best head start.
If you notice that your knife seems to vibrate in rhythmic pulses about every second or so, re-tuning can help.
Self-Tuning
You can re-tune the knife on its own, through the right series of gestures. This is handy if you want to update the tuning and don’t have a phone or a computer nearby. The knife has multiple operating frequency ranges, and the self-tuning process also allows you to switch between them. Switching frequencies can help resolve issues with audible noise.
Re-Centering on the Current Frequency Target
In this process, you’ll re-tune the knife without changing operating frequency range. Think of this as refining the starting point for autotune to search.
- Remove the battery and hold down the orange button until the entire process is complete.
- With the knife parallel to the floor, insert the battery and continue pressing the button.
- After ten seconds, the lights will turn orange, indicating that re-tuning has started. Keep the button held down until the blue progress indicator is complete and the light ring turns green. You may hear some audible noises during this process.
- Release the button and the knife will reboot. It is now re-tuned and ready to use.
Changing to Frequency Target 1
- Remove the battery and hold down the orange button until the entire process is complete.
- With the knife pointed straight up, insert the battery and continue pressing the button.
- After ten seconds, the lights will turn orange, indicating that re-tuning has started. Keep the button held down until the blue progress indicator is complete and the light ring turns green. You may hear some audible noises during this process.
- Release the button and the knife will reboot. It is now re-tuned and ready to use.
Changing to Frequency Target 2
- Remove the battery and hold down the orange button until the entire process is complete.
- With the knife pointed straight down, insert the battery and continue pressing the button.
- After ten seconds, the lights will turn orange, indicating that re-tuning has started. Keep the button held down until the blue progress indicator is complete and the light ring turns green. You may hear some audible noises during this process.
- Release the button and the knife will reboot. It is now re-tuned and ready to use.
Using the Tuneup Console
You can also re-tune through our Tuneup Console using a phone or computer with a Bluetooth connection and a Chrome-based or Edge web browser. There’s no software to download or app to install.
We always recommend upgrading to the latest available firmware as a first step in resolving any issues you encounter. The upgrade process takes less than two minutes.
The tuneup console also allows you to re-tune your knife and capture diagnostic that can help customer support assist with troubleshooting.
