Why does the knife contain lead (per the warning label)?Updated 6 days ago
The warning about lead is a formality for regulatory compliance. The C-200 contains piezoelectric ceramic crystals made of PZT-8 (lead zirconate titanate). These crystals are contained inside the water-tight handle. None of these materials are exposed to your food or hands, and the knife meets all safety standards, including RoHS-compliant regarding heavy metals. We include the California Prop 65 warning to be fully transparent and comply with state law. In short, there's no significant risk to users - it's the same kind of warning you'll see on many electronics - but we have to label it.
