What does an ultrasonic knife do?

An ultrasonic knife uses high-frequency vibrations in the blade to help it cut with less force and less sticking.

What generates the vibrations in the C-200?

The C-200 doesn't use any vibrating motors or magnets to generate its ultrasonic vibration.

Can you feel any vibration in the handle during use?

No - you won't feel the vibrations in your hand.

Does it make noise?

Barely.

Will the sound bother dogs?

No.

Does the C-200 knife use AI?

No, it's a knife.

Does the C-200 have Bluetooth/WiFi connectivity?

Yes, the C-200 contains Bluetooth and WiFi radios for future-proofing, but no wireless connection is required or involved in using the knife.

Is an ultrasonic knife dangerous to use?

An ultrasonic knife isn't inherently more dangerous than any other sharp kitchen knife.

Where is the C-200 produced?

The C-200 was designed in Seattle and is manufactured in Malaysia.

What kind of knife steel does the C-200 use?

The C-200's blade is made from Japanese AUS-10 stainless steel in a three-layer "san mai" construction.

How big is the C-200 knife?

The blade is 8 inches long, or approximately 200 mm.

How much does the C-200 weigh?

C-200 weighs 330 grams with the battery installed.

Does the blade get hot when cutting with ultrasonics?

No, the blade does not get hot when active.

Is the C-200 knife a full-tang knife?

No, it's not full-tang, and that's okay.

How long does the battery last and what is the battery life per charge?

On a full charge, the C-200's battery provides about 20 minutes of continuous running at maximum power.

Is the battery removable?

Yes, the C-200's battery is user-removable.

How do I recharge the knife's battery?

You have two options to recharge the C-200's battery: via USB-C or with the Wireless Charging Tile optional accessory.

Why wasn't a USB-C charging cable included?

We decided not to include a USB-C cable in the package because we know most customers already have a drawer full of those cables.

Do ultrasonic knives require less sharpening than regular knives?

Generally, yes - you won't need to sharpen the C-200 as frequently as a normal knife.

How do I sharpen or resharpen the C-200?

You sharpen it just like any other high-quality steel knife.

Is the knife dishwasher-safe?

No - and in fact, no fine knife should go in the dishwasher.

Is the knife waterproof?

The knife is water-resistant to an IP65 rating.

Why does the knife contain lead (per the warning label)?

The warning about lead is a formality for regulatory compliance.

Can I travel with the C-200 knife on an airplane?

You can, but you must follow airline rules for sharp objects and batteries.
